8 Giugno 2026 Vietri Sul Mare Italy. Easing into things.

What an incredible beachside town with its steep elevations and cobblestone roads winding through perfect enchanting neighborhoods. This is where shop keepers blend wonderfully with artisan’s and restauranteurs share laughs with cafe owners.

While my departure from Naples, and arrival to the Amalfi coast was anything but smooth the charm of Vietri soon set in and calmed my frazzled nerves. As I was warned before leaving for Italy, the bus system here is far from user friendly and the cars and scooters ensue chaos no matter the time of day.

Early morning is prime time to walk the town just as shop owners are sweeping their walks and pulling out their wares to sell. Pizza is not the headliner here, just fresh seafood, home-made pasta, fresh baked goods and fine Italian wine.

As the heat of the summer day is blanketed by the cool night air, it signals a transition from air conditioning and a time to open windows and listen to the sounds of the coastal night. And, oh did I mention the ceramics? Drop in and see Gio at SOL’ART Ceramiche who has been creating original pieces right in his shop with his brother for nearly 30 years.
